Rhys Collas

Lawyer

Rhys Collas began working at Abrahams Meese in February 2017 and was admitted to practice as a lawyer in June 2017.

Rhys has a Bachelor of Arts graduated from Monash University, with a major in philosophy, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Melbourne.

At Abrahams Meese, Rhys has fast become an expert in property transactions, notably acting for both vendors and purchasers in relation to both commercial and residential property not only in Victoria, but across all Australian jurisdictions.  Rhys oversaw the firm’s transition to the regular use of electronic conveyancing via PEXA and prides himself on his knowledge of the latest developments in how property transactions are carried out across Australia.  Rhys is also particularly well-versed in leasing matters, with a particular focus on drafting and negotiating retail leases in Victoria and around Australia.  He has been involved in numerous disputes involving the Retail Leases Act 2003 and, more recently, the COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) (Commercial Leases and Licences) Regulations 2020.

Rhys has also developed skills in other areas including wills and estates, commercial agreements, trusts, trademarks and debt recovery matters.

With increasing experience on both the transactional and litigious side of matters, particularly property matters, Rhys offers Abrahams Meese’s clients the benefit of a holistic view of the issues confronting them.
